It brings together hides from our two finest grading categories—AA Superior and AA Grade—chosen for their beautiful hair condition, rich natural colouring and minimal imperfections.

Each genuine Nguni cow hide reflects the distinctive markings of South Africa’s indigenous Nguni cattle. No two patterns are ever identical, making every hide an authentic, naturally created statement piece with its own character and history.

Our hides are ethically sourced within South Africa and professionally finished in our own tannery in Dundee. This hands-on process allows us to maintain consistent standards while preserving the natural texture, colouring and beauty that make Nguni cattle hides so distinctive.

Understanding Our Premium Grades

AA Superior hides display exceptional hair condition with very few visible natural markings or imperfections. AA Grade hides meet the same premium finishing standards but may show slightly more natural character, such as minor branding or healed markings. All our hides undergo the same professional tanning and finishing process—the grade reflects the hide’s natural condition, not a difference in tanning quality.

How Our Hides Are Priced

Pricing is determined by the grade of the hide together with the rarity and desirability of its natural colour and pattern. Hides featuring especially unusual markings or sought-after colour combinations may carry a higher value.

When you buy Nguni hides from The Nguni Shop, you select the exact hide shown in the product photographs. Once your chosen hide is sold, it cannot be duplicated or replaced.
