This hide has been ethically sourced within South Africa and professionally finished in our own tannery in Dundee, KwaZulu-Natal. It is locally sourced and locally finished—not imported.
Understanding Your Premium Grade
AAS Hides (also known as) AA Superior Grade hides are selected for their exceptional hair condition and very few visible natural markings or imperfections.
AAG Hides (also known as) AA Grade hides meet the same premium finishing standards but may display slightly more natural character, such as subtle branding, healed markings or minor variations in the hair.
Both grades undergo the same careful tanning and finishing process in our tannery. The grade reflects the natural condition and appearance of the hide—not a difference in tanning quality or workmanship.
Why Prices Differ
The price of each Premium Nguni hide is determined by its grade, together with the rarity and desirability of its natural colour and pattern. Particularly sought-after colours, unusual markings or rare pattern combinations may carry a higher price, even when two hides have the same grade.
