Nguni Hide no. TRI2844 is a one-of-a-kind Tri Colour Nguni cow hide featuring creamy white contrasted by large deep chocolate-brown patches with rich chestnut undertones and smaller scattered brown markings throughout. This hide is classified as AA Superior Grade.

Its combination of three naturally occurring tones creates a distinctive pattern that cannot be reproduced. The hide shown in the product photographs is the exact hide you will receive.

This hide has been ethically sourced within South Africa and professionally finished in our own tannery in Dundee, KwaZulu-Natal. It is locally sourced and locally finished—not imported.

Tri Colour refers to the hide’s natural colouring and pattern—it is not a quality grade. A Tri Colour hide may fall within any of our grading categories, including AA Superior, AA Grade, A Grade Superior, A Grade, B Grade Superior or B Grade.

Its grade is determined by its natural condition, hair quality and the presence of markings such as branding, healed scars, hair variations or carefully completed repairs. Every grade undergoes the same professional tanning and finishing process in our tannery. The grade reflects the hide’s natural condition—not a difference in tanning quality or workmanship.

Natural markings can add character and individuality to a Tri Colour hide. For many customers, these details form an important part of its beauty, telling a deeper story shaped by the animal, the land and South Africa’s farming traditions.

Why Tri Colour Prices Differ

Each Tri Colour Nguni hide is priced individually. The price is influenced by its grade, the rarity and balance of its three colours, the distinctiveness of its natural pattern and the demand for that particular colour combination.

A hide with an especially rare, well-balanced or striking Tri Colour pattern may therefore carry a higher price than another hide of the same grade. Likewise, a more characterful Tri Colour hide in a lower grade may offer excellent value while still displaying the rare colouring that makes this category so desirable.
